The Park and Daddy Daughter Date

  • We headed to the park a couple days ago (Belleview Park; which is the best park ever!) because Matt really wanted to play basketball and they opened the petting zoo and train ride. So we went and had a blast. It was so fun watching the kids, we just missed the zoo and train ride last year (they close it from Labor Day to Memorial Day), so it was our first time. Jonah has been obsessed with cars, trains, and especially airplanes, so he LOVED the train ride, and Mikelle loved the petting zoo. It was like a very small version of Thanksgiving Point's. The animals are not in cages though (most of them), they are all babies and just walk around and you can go up and pet them. Also, Mikelle got to milk a pretend cow. Then they played in the little stream there and ate chips; so were so tired, they only went down the slide a couple times and then we headed home.

  • I thought this was blog worthy; this was a conversation with Mikelle yesterday:
Mikelle: "Mom, why is it dark?"
Me: "Because the sun went down."
Mikelle: "oh, okay mom, I will try not to step on the sun."

Memorial Day Weekend

Over Memorial Day Weekend, we had a picnic lunch at the park with some of our friends (the Whites) and their family. The Whites blessed their baby girl, Hannah, on Sunday, and it was fun to hang out with them and meet their family. Then we had the missionaries and some other friends (Lacey and Addie) over for a BBQ. Then on Monday, we got invited over to a family's house that Matt knew from his mission for a BBQ. Lots of BBQs, picnics, and playing at the park over the weekend. Too bad it rained for most of the time, we really wanted to get some swimming in. Anyway, here are some pictures. Hope everyone had a fun holiday weekend!

And here is a picture I took from my bedroom window on the third floor. Matt was walking home with the kids from the park. Aren't they so cute!

Simple Pleasures

Today was a good day. I took the kids to the Wildlife Experience this morning. Then we all went to the park. We stopped at the store first and I ran in and got a styrofoam cooler, ice, watermelon and cantaloupe bite-size pieces, gatorade and capri sun drinks (and only spent $8), and headed to the park. Matt played basketball and the kids played on the swings and slide and then we all took a break and had fruit and drinks; they absolutely loved it. It was SO fun! Then we came home and went swimming and had dinner. They both ate so much for dinner (I think from such a busy day), which rarely happens, and then I just got them in bed. They were so exhausted from the day, they both ran to their beds after I got their 'jammies' on and didn't even complain. What a good day!

Updates...

  • Matt finished his first year of law school, he took his LAST final this morning; and by last I literally mean it could be his last. He is deciding if he wants to go back or not. I am so proud of him for getting through the year and excited to see what the future holds.
  • It finally feels like summer, in fact, I don't want it to get any hotter. It said it got to 90 today.
  • They opened the swimming pool at our apartment so we will probably go there everyday.

  • I am almost 6 months pregnant (okay, I am jumping the gun, 5 1/2 months this week).
  • Mikelle has a new phrase she says ALL THE TIME: " I'm goin' slap you in the face". Example: "Mom, if you don't lay by me tonight, I'm goin' slap you in the face." I have no idea where she got that from, but Matt thinks it's hilarious so I guess it will just run its course hopefully since no punishment is being able to be carried out.
  • My brother Aaron and his fiance Kayla got their engagement pictures Saturday; they also got pet turtles the size of quarters and so that is the new thing on my WANT list.

  • And sorry, no updates for Jonah, he still just says "MMMMMAAAAA" for everything; but he does know where his fingers, toes, nose, ears, hair, eyes, mouth, teeth, and tummy are.

Belleview Park

A couple day ago it was 85 degrees!!! And since our apartment swimming pool isn't open yet, we went for the next best thing, the little stream at Belleview Park.

Gardening at the Temple

Our ward had a primary activity where we went to the temple and helped garden for the new flowers they are putting in. I don't think we really contributed much due to chasing kids around most of the time; but we went for the experience I guess. Anyway, here are the pictures from it:

This is the best picture we could get of both the kids sitting in front of the temple
My dirty hands

For mother's day, I took pictures of the kids and wanted them in black and white except have their eyes stay their normal color. My friend Cindy edited them for me so they would do that. So these are the pictures, I know they are far from professional looking, but that was the best that I could do on my own, and Cindy's touch makes them look awesome. Thanks Cindy!

What does Tarzan say?

Mikelle has really liked the movie Tarzan lately, and kind of converted Jonah to it:

But more important than Tarzan; HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! I have the best mom in the world and I know Matt also has the best mom in the world and we both have so many people in our lives that have been like mothers to us! Thank you and we love you!!!

We did it!

Today I had my 20 week ultrasound, and we did it! We didn't find out what the baby is. I knew that we just had to be strong this one day because I don't have anymore ultrasounds so there is no way to find out now till the baby is born. Matt said after the ultrasound that he thinks it is a girl, and I told him I think it is a boy; so who knows. Matt and I are pretty excited; I think it will make the birth more exciting, especially since we are both pretty much planning on this being our last kid. So, here are the pictures, I think I am labeling them correctly, I am not sure though, I never could really quite see what was going on. Also, this week I am HALF WAY!
