See the difference a year can make, this is Jonah on his 3rd birthday.

White Water Rafting Trip

Last Saturday Matt and I went white water rafting with his work (Webolutions). It was so much fun, I was pretty nervous, but we had a blast. We went through the Royal Gorge by Canon City on the Arkansas River (about 2 hours from where we live). Webolutions got a huge bus limo to drive down in. We rafted about 10 miles I think, and we hit some class 3 and 4 rapids. Our guide told us that that was the most popular rafting spot in the US. Luckily I got to go in the type of raft where not everyone has to paddle, so I just hung on for dear life; Matt was the opposite of me, sitting up in the very front of the raft paddling. I personally think we got the best guide and the best group in the raft, we had so much fun! We did the full day rafting trip, so we were gone about 12 hours. I don't think I've ever had a 'date' that long before, and definitely not something that extreme. Thanks to some of our awesome friends for watching the kids!

The Limo Bus Ride

We were pretty tired on the way home, we had to wake up at 5 am to meet for the ride down

From the rafting website, just in case you're interested, I recommend you do this if you're in the area:
" This rafting trip is ranked in the top ten white water trips nationally. The best of Bighorn Canyon in the morning, including class III & III+ rapids Wake Up, Three Rocks, Spikebuck & Sharkstooth. We then stop for a rest at the Parkdale beach and enjoy our famous riverside lunch. Be ready to focus and paddle hard through the class III - V turbulence that is the ROYAL GORGE. Seven out of ten miles of continuous white water thrills including Sunshine Falls, Sledgehammer, Wallslammer & Boateater. The Gorge is home to the most spectacular scenery on the river as you pass under the highest suspension bridge in the world, 1053' above you. The premier Colorado rafting adventure on the Arkansas River!"

Jonah taking his new bike out and Heidi's birthday

Jonah trying out his new bike at the park:

some other fun pictures

Jonah got a coupon for some stuff at the Wildlife Experience, and this is what he picked out...a whale, a rhino, and a polar bear. I thought the whale was quite appropriate for him and I didn't even 'persuade' him to get it, he picked it out all on his own.
Happy Birthday to Heidi
(there are 30 candles on that cake, just fyi)
lighting all the candles, kind of tricky actually
blowing out the candles
Keith got the trick birthday candles that wouldn't blow out, it was pretty funny. You can tell that the room is gradually getting smokier. (funny that the smoke detector goes off when I make toast that isn't even burned, but it doesn't go off for this)
The candles wouldn't go out, so everyone had to try blowing them out at the same time
Tyrel has learned a new trick:
He is almost able to climb out of his crib.

Jonah's Birthday Party

We had Jonah's party a couple weeks early because this month is really busy and we will be camping on Jonah's actual birthday. He had a sports party.
We had different sports games stations that the kids went around playing, (badminton, baseball, soccer, basketball, football, golf).

After Jonah opened all the presents from friends, I pulled out his bike and scooter that I had wrapped the night before, it is actually really hard to wrap those things.
Waiting on a chair for me to bring out his 'surprise'
unwrapping his bike

He loves it!
